SAN DIEGO — In this video, Cynthia Gyamfi-Bannerman, MD, MS, FACOG, discusses the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on the pregnant population, which was the focus of her presentation at the ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting.

Gyamfi-Bannerman, who is the Samuel S.C. Yen Endowed Chair of the department of OB/GYN and reproductive sciences at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and UC San Diego Health, touched on lessons learned during the pandemic that should impact how clinical trials are conducted moving forward.

Quoting Diana W. Bianchi, MD, the director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Gyamfi-Bannerman said, “We should protect women through research and not from research.”
