CHICAGO — Heart disease is a leading health threat for women, according to C. Noel Bairey Merz, MD, FACC, FAHA, FESC, the director of the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai.

Bairey Merz, who is also the director of the Preventive Cardiac Center, the Linda Joy Pollin Women’s Heart Health Program, the Erika J. Glazer Women’s Heart Research Initiative and a professor of medicine at Cedars-Sinai, discussed sex- and gender-based differences with heart disease in a presentation at the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting.

Assessing for sex-specific risk variables can improve CVD risk prediction in women, according to Bairey Merz.

In this video, she highlights the key takeaways from her presentation.
