In this video, Jeffrey A. Sparks, MD, MMSc, associate physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital, highlighted data presented at ACR 2020 that investigated the incidence of dementia among patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

According to Sparks, who also serves as assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, this study is a “novel accumulation of morbidities that have not really been looked at much in rheumatoid arthritis.”

“This is just the beginning of this story,” he said. “We really need prospective studies, we probably need trials ... but this really leads to a novel path.”
