LAS VEGAS — At the Osteoarthritis Research Society International World Congress, Stefan Lohmander, MD, PhD, from Lund University in Sweden, spoke about the future of osteoarthritis treatment and the need for individualized exercise therapy.

Lohmander said there is a need to understand how to appropriately dose exercise therapy for each patient. In addition, he said there is a need to improve pharmaceuticals for pain and to provide potential disease-modifying treatments for osteoarthritis. He also mentioned a need to improve patient indications for surgery.
