WASHINGTON — At the American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting, Amit Saxena, MD, assistant professor of medicine at the University of New York School of Medicine, reviewed his study on neonatal lupus and whether this can lead to autoimmune disease in later life.

Saxena and colleagues found patients with neonatal lupus were more likely to develop autoimmunity, the most prevalent of which was psoriasis. Saxena said these patients belong to their own clinical spectrum that is not related to the autoimmunity or passive autoimmunity of their mothers.
