Merck announced the launch of Biosimilars Clarified, a website that aims to educate the health care community about biosimilars, according to a company press release. The website can be viewed at www.merckclarifiesbiosimilars.com.

“Biosimilars can offer alternative treatment options, and have the potential to help reduce health care spending and increase access to important biologic medicines,” Dora Bibila, general manager at Merck Biosimilars, said in the release. “At Merck, we want to provide educational resources for patients and caregivers to help them get the information they want and need.”

The website asks users whether they identify as a health care professional, payer or patient/caregiver. For health care professionals, the website offers four questions to be answered:

  • What are biosimilars and how do they relate to biologics?
  • How is biosimilarity established?
  • How is the quality of biosimilars assessed?
  • How does Merck demonstrate its commitment to biosimilars?

“We believe the more patients know, the more they can be in charge of their health,” Bibila said. “Biosimilars Clarified is designed to help answer their questions about biosimilars.”
