The Biosimilars Forum, a nonprofit organization to expand patient access to biosimilars in the United States, announced the launch of an educational initiative, the Partnership for Biosimilars Education and Access, to raise awareness and to encourage access to biosimilars in the United States.

“We know that some of the most difficult diseases that afflict people in the [United States] U.S. are best treated with biological medicines,” Juliana Reed, president of the Biosimilars Forum, said in a press release. “The introduction of biosimilars is anticipated to help drive lower cost burdens for the U.S. health care system. It will also help expand earlier, more consistent access to these important medicines for patients with cancer, anemia, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn’s and other inflammatory bowel diseases.”

The initiative includes educational materials that provide background information, answers to frequently asked questions and other materials about biosimilars on its website.

Organizations interested in partnering with the Biosimilars Forum to support the initiative are encouraged to contact the Biosimilars Forum via its website.
