ACR names new president, officers at annual meeting
SAN DIEGO – Joseph Flood, MD, an adjunct associate professor of internal medicine at the Wexner Medical Center of The Ohio State University, has been named 2014 president of the American College of Rheumatology.
Flood is in practice at the Columbus Arthritis Center in Columbus, Ohio. In 2002, he received the Distinguished Educator Award from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, where is on the clinical faculty.

Flood recently completed a 1-year term as president-elect of the ACR and a 2-year term as secretary for both the ACR and Rheumatology Research Foundation prior to that, according to a press release.
Other officers named during the ACR’s annual business meeting were:
- E. William St. Clair, MD, chief of the Duke Division of Rheumatology, as 2014 president-elect. He recently completed a 2-year term as treasurer for both the ACR and the Rheumatology Research Foundaiton. He also served as president of the foundation.
- Sharad Lakhanpal, MBBS, MD, clinical professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, as treasurer of the ACR.
- Joan M. Von Feldt, MD, MSEd, professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and associate chief of staff for education at the Philadelphia Veterans Medical Center, will continue to serve as secretary for the ACR and the Rheumatology Research Foundation.
