Boston Children’s Hospital ranked No. 1 in US for pulmonology and lung surgery

Boston Children’s Hospital ranked No. 1 on U.S. News & World Report‘s list of best children’s hospitals for pulmonology and lung surgery.

The top-ranked children’s hospitals for pulmonology and lung surgery in the 2021-2022 report are:

1. Boston Children’s Hospital
2. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
3. Texas Children’s Hospital
4. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
5. Children’s Hospital Colorado
6. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford
7. Nationwide Children’s Hospital
8. Children’s National Hospital
9. St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University
10. Seattle Children’s Hospital

The Best Children’s Hospital rankings take into account objective outcomes such as patient outcomes, including mortality and infection rates, along with available clinical resources and compliance with best practices. The rankings highlight the top 50 centers in the following specialties: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery; neonatology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology and lung surgery; and urology, according to a press release.

“The Best Children's Hospitals rankings have always highlighted hospitals that excel in specialized care,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News & World Report, said in the release. “Now, this year's new state and regional rankings can help families identify conveniently located hospitals capable of meeting their child’s needs.”

The top 10 US children’s hospitals by region in the 2021-2022 report are:

• Mid-Atlantic: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia;
• Midwest: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center;
• New England: Boston Children’s Hospital;
• Pacific: Children’s Hospital Los Angeles;
• Rocky Mountains: Children’s Hospital Colorado;
• Southeast: Children’s Hospital of Atlanta and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital of Vanderbilt; and
• Southwest: Texas Children’s Hospital
