“By harnessing groundbreaking research and innovation, collaborating with allied groups, and our passion and dedication that binds us all in our lives’ work, we can create a roadmap to a better future for our patients and our profession,” APA President Rebecca Brendel, MD, JD, said during a virtual press briefing prior to the meeting. “This is such an important time. Mental health has truly become part of the national conversation, and Americans are looking to improve their mental health.”

The program also features a variety of speakers. Heather McGhee, author of “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together,” will be one of the keynote speakers at the conference and will speak during the “Emerging voices: DEIB, innovation & leadership plenary,” Brendel said. Beth Macy, a journalist who has written about the opioid crisis in her books “Dopesick” and “Raising Lazarus,” is another featured guest.

Healio will provide live coverage of the event. Select sessions will also be available virtually, according to the APA meeting website.
