In this video, Manpreet Kaur Singh, MD, MS, spoke with Healio about research being conducted in precision medicine to treat mood disorders that she discussed during a presentation at the 2022 NEI Congress.

Singh, who is an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford University, said “there are so many cool things coming in the pipeline that we should be excited about."

She discussed research in validating biotypes that could lead to new treatments, strategies to determine treatment decisions regarding pharmacological vs. nonpharmacological interventions and more.

“We have so many new, exciting tools ranging from your imaging brain modulatory interventions, new mechanisms of action, we have statistical tools like Bayesian inference and machine learning and artificial intelligence.” Singh said. “We can harness this technology, partnered with building trust with our patients, to imagine a very exciting transformation in psychiatry that I think is going to be very fun over the next many years.”
