The American Psychiatric Association on Wednesday announced the launch of PsychPRO 2.0, a mental health registry that offers psychiatrists enhanced options to engage with patients, track outcomes and streamline data for quality reporting.
The registry was created to assist psychiatrists in efforts to improve clinical research and quality of care, ease administrative burdens on physicians, help meet maintenance of certification requirements and reduce overall costs for mental health care delivery.
“The migration to the new technology platform will enhance the already robust benefits of the PsychPRO mental health registry,” APA CEO and medical director Saul Levin, MD, MPA, said in a release from the association. “PsychPRO 2.0 will help psychiatrists and hospital systems better navigate a rapidly evolving health care landscape and help track and achieve optimal outcomes for our patients. It truly is the registry of the future.”
According to the APA, PsychPRO 2.0 is designed with flexibility and scalability in mind. It has increased reporting capabilities and standardized data inputs, as well as options for collecting patient data.
The new registry will help the APA build on existing efforts to implement infrastructure to develop models of care, which are sought by health care systems across the country seeking to improve quality of care while maximizing impact to their communities.
Hackensack Meridian Health is partnering with the APA to utilize the PsychPRO 2.0 registry, Ramon Solhkhah, MD, MBA, founding chair of the hospital’s department of psychiatry and behavioral health, said in the release.
“With a strategic focus on psychiatric quality, our plan to utilize PsychPRO and its many new functions will extend our capacity to implement a data-driven approach to help ensure the highest quality patient care,” Solhkhah said.
