SAN DIEGO — In this video, John T. Walkup, MD, professor of psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, discusses the importance of early detection, treatment and prevention of anxiety in children and adolescents.

“If not treated, young people will accumulate problems with adaptation and coping because the coping mechanism that most people who are anxious use is avoidance,” Walkup said.

Further, significantly effective treatment options, are available for pediatric anxiety disorders, according to Walkup.
