Approximately 60% of men and 50% of women will experience at least one trauma throughout their life and 10% of women and 4% of men will develop PTSD, according to the National Center for PTSD.

Overall, an estimated 7% to 8% of the U.S. population will develop PTSD and approximately 8 million adults have PTSD during a given year.

These rates increase among veterans.
