ATLANTA — Matthew Shear, MD, MPH, assistant Professor of Psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, discusses treatment methods for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and recently defined DSM-5 avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder among adolescents.
The crux of treating these disorders is behavioral health, according to Shear.
“The focus of our treatment in the hospital is behavioral – helping them learn to eat normally again and we’re trying to involve their families in this treatment,” Shear told Healio.com/Psychiatry.
