The Hartman Foundation has awarded a $1 million challenge grant to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to support Alzheimer’s disease research, according to a press release.
The grant will support a 2-year study investigating the primary cause of Alzheimer’s disease. Specifically, the study will assess abnormal shifts in brain metabolism most notably present in the early-onset of the disease, and whether or not the shifts can be corrected with medication or lifestyle modifications, according to the press release.
