The CDC recommended that adults aged 65 years or older and anyone who is moderately or severely immunocompromised receive a second dose of 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine.

Additionally, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended lowering the age for routine pneumococcal conjugate vaccination to 50 years.

The recommendations were made official after CDC Director Mandy K. Cohen, MD, MPH, signed off on them.

In another top story, the CDC announced 26 more cases in the E coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders, bringing the total number of cases to 75.

They also announced that Michigan, New Mexico and Washington have been added to the list of states included in the outbreak, bringing the total to 13 states.
