The percentage of adults with metabolically healthy obesity has increased over the past 2 decades, from 3.2% in 1999-2002 to 6.6% in 2015-2018, recent data show.
According to An Pan, PhD, a professor in the department of epidemiology and biostatistics in the School of Public Health at Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, in China, “effective strategies are needed to optimize metabolic status among individuals with obesity to prevent cardiovascular and metabolic comorbidities.”
It was the top story in endocrinology last week.
