VIDEO: 'Five major changes' in adult vaccination
CHICAGO — In this video, Robert H. Hopkins Jr., MD, MACP, FAAP, division chief of general internal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, addresses updates in adult immunizations.
Hopkins gave a talk during the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting that focused on two big aspects of adult vaccination: first, that physicians need to continue to make strong recommendations that their patients get vaccinated; and second, to recognize that many patients are hesitant to do so.
“We need to be respectful listeners and also communicate in a nonconfrontational way to convince our patients who are hesitant about vaccines,” Hopkins told Healio.
Hopkins also addressed “five major changes around adult vaccines” that occurred in the past few years, specifically those regarding COVID-19, Tdap, pneumococcal, hepatitis B and herpes zoster vaccines.
