In this video, Andrew Pinto, MD, CCFP, FRCPC, MSc, discusses best practices for planning and implementing successful COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Canada and the United States.
Pinto, the director of Upstream Lab at Unity Health Toronto and an associate professor at the University of Toronto, and colleagues established these best practices based on a review of 46 relevant articles, reports and guidelines. Their review was recently published in Annals of Family Medicine.
“Despite the progress made over the past year, the role of mass vaccination clinics in achieving herd immunity is not achieved yet,” Pinto and colleagues wrote.
Although 61% of people worldwide have received at least one vaccine dose, only 13%have received a booster dose, according to the researchers.
“Primary care will continue to be essential in organizing mass vaccination clinics in large venues and in primary care settings,” they added.
