Healio CME explores new ways to deliver medical education

Not all CME is created equal. Today’s medical educators seek more effective methods for presenting information and driving learning comprehension. As a platform for disseminating accredited educational activities, Healio CME is developing innovative educational delivery models that help CME providers obtain better results. The Ace the Case microlearning format is one of them.
Here is a recent message from senior account manager Meredith Barnes introducing Ace the Case and chief experience officer Andrea Gaymon, MEd, UXC, explaining how microlearning can increase both adoption and retention among learners.
Give it a read. It only takes a minute and you’ll learn something. See how I did that?

Ace the Case

I hope you’re having a wonderful day!
I’m reaching out to introduce Ace the Case, one of Healio’s new microlearning formats. The Ace the Case model was created as part of our plan to improve the Healio Education Lab user experience.
Below our chief experience officer, Andrea Gaymon, MEd, UXC, details Healio’s rationale behind the development of Ace the Case and the importance of designing educational platforms that support individual goals and preferences.
The Healio Education Lab is tailored to meet the distinct needs of health care professionals by providing specialty-specific content in a variety of effective and convenient formats. Connect with me to discuss all of Healio’s microlearning opportunities. I look forward to hearing from you!

Microlearning with Ace the Case

Peter Jarvis’ notion that learning is a continuous, lifelong process rings true every day. In response to this notion, Healio constructed the Ace the Case model to cater to specific learning preferences such as microlearning. “Microlearning refers... to taking short-term-focused learning activities on small learning content units,” (Kovachev D, 2011).

Healio’s Ace the Case proves to be a win-win experience for our specialists. By teaching with short cases and quick assessments that can be taken in a series, this learning format results in a high learner-to-test taker ratio.

Recently, at an oncology meeting, I conducted a live usability test using our Ace the Case model. After experimenting with our Ace the Case activities, a hematology nurse practitioner responded:
“This is amazing. I have a young daughter, so while she is watching Dora the Explorer, I can easily take a few cases for 0.25 credits and keep up to date.”
It is clear that health care practitioners need educational tools that align with their daily lives, their patients and their own individual learning goals. As chief experience officer for Healio.com, my job is to not only work to improve user experience, but to also understand our learners.
