PHILADELPHIA – Focusing on the sickest patients and those where there are significant needed steps will optimize hand-offs between shifts, according to a speaker here at the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Meeting.

“The best hand-off is ‘less is more,’” Vineet Arora, MD, MA, associate chief medical officer at the University of Chicago, told Healio Primary Care Today. “Really emphasize those to-do and if-then items during your handoffs.”
