ABIM, ACCME announce increased MOC opportunities, CME search tool

Physicians will be able to use a web-based tool to search for continuing medical education opportunities, according to a press release issued by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.
The tool, CME Finder, will provide information such as activity provider and type, end date, participation restrictions and associated fees on CME activities registered for maintenance of certification (MOC) credit.
If physicians complete a listed activity, the provider will send completion information directly to ABIM, the organization noted.
“Thousands of physicians are benefiting from our continued collaboration with ACCME that recognizes activities they are already doing. To date, physicians have earned about three million MOC points in accredited CME activities,” Richard J. Baron, MD, president and CEO of ABIM, said in the release. “We are expanding our collaboration to encourage CME providers to continue to innovate and create educational activities that blend medical knowledge and practice assessment opportunities, which allows us to seamlessly recognize a physician’s journey through self-directed learning.”
The organizations also announced plans to recognize more CME by spring 2017. Physicians can earn MOC credits for Practice Assessment activities, Medical Knowledge activities and activities that blend both.
