The North American Center for Continuing Medical Education has announced the schedule for its 5th Annual Cardiometabolic Risk Summit.

As detailed in a press release from HMP Communications Holdings LLC, the parent company of NACCME, the meeting will educate primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians and other health care professions on various cardiometabolic issues.

“The cardiometabolic field is in a great state of flux — new medications, technologies, guidelines, even paradigms of care," Daniel Einhorn, MD, co-chair of the meeting, from University of California, San Diego and Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute, said in the release. "Speakers present cutting-edge data and provide practical takeaways. The variety of dynamic session formats allow for interaction among attendees and speakers — that is truly unique to the Cardiometabolic Risk Summit.”

Scheduled for Oct. 14 to 16 in Las Vegas, this year's meeting will feature new sessions on cardiometabolic comorbidities, such as Sleep and Cardiometabolic Risk, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Insulin Resistance, Cardiometabolic Risk and Impact on Bone Health and Cardiometabolic Risk in the Cancer Survivor.

In addition, the meeting will focus on physician wellness, with a pre-conference for clinicians on October 13 that will address issues such as physician burnout, as well as mindful meditation, wellness breaks and healthy meals throughout the conference.

“In the process of providing care for others, we must care for ourselves," Sandra Jain, MA, PsyD, LPC, from the University of Texas at Austin, said in the release. "As clinicians, we frequently don’t do a great job focusing on our own wellness. Here’s our chance to set the bar high.”
