ACP appoints first female EVP and CEO
The American College of Physicians has named Darilyn V. Moyer, MD, FACP, as its new executive vice president and CEO, according to a press release from the organization.
Moyer, who will be the first female CEO and EVP for ACP, will begin her tenure on Sept. 6.
Moyer is a professor of medicine, executive vice chair for education in the department of medicine, internal medicine residency program director and assistant dean for graduate medical education at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Her focuses include infectious diseases, HIV and primary care.

“I look forward to helping ACP continue its mission of helping physicians provide the best possible care to their patients,” Moyer said in the release. “Whether it is issuing evidence-based clinical recommendations or helping physicians understand new payment systems, ACP plays a critical role in our nation’s health care by fostering excellence in the practice of medicine.”
Moyer has been an ACP fellow since 1995 and has served as governor of ACP's Pennsylvania Southeastern Chapter, chaired ACP's Board of Governors and served on ACP's Board of Regents.
She will replace Steven E. Weinberger, MD, MACP, FRCP, current ACP CEO and EVP, who announced his decision to retire several months ago.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as ACP’s EVP and CEO for the past 6 years,” Weinberger said in the release. “Dr. Darilyn Moyer is an excellent choice to lead ACP’s continuing pursuit to improve the health of our patients and their families.”
Moyer had previously been elected to serve as president of ACP in 2017. The organization will hold a special election within the next few weeks to determine a new president.
