The Department of Health and Human Services, CDC and other agencies are sponsoring National Influenza Vaccination Week, which kicks off Sunday.

This week will be full of promotional activities to highlight the importance of annual influenza vaccination and to encourage influenza immunizations during December, January and beyond, according to the CDC.

As of mid-November, approximately 123 million doses of the 2012-2013 seasonal influenza vaccine had been delivered to US vaccination providers.

Influenza vaccination is recommended for all patients aged at least 6 months.
