Joint depression aided prediction of bucket-handle meniscal tears after tibial plateau fracture
BARCELONA, Spain — Investigators from the United Kingdom reported fracture widening of 8 mm seen on CT in patients with a tibial plateau fracture may predict a concomitant bucket-handle meniscal tear is present that needs to be addressed. However, they found no correlation of Schatzker fracture grade with the presence of a tear.

FDA grants permission to market artificial intelligence algorithm to help providers detect wrist fractures
The FDA announced it has granted Imagen permission to market OsteoDetect, a type of computer-aided detection and diagnosis software that can detect wrist fractures in adult patients, according to a press release. The software is intended to be used by clinicians in primary care, emergency medicine, urgent care and specialty care, such as orthopedics.
Several clinical factors determine management of talar fractures
A paper published in EFORT Open Reviews and written by Harron Majeed, MBBS, MRCS, MSc, FEBOT, FRCS, and colleagues revealed appropriate management of talar fractures depends on size, location and displacement of the fragment, the degree of articular cartilage damage and instability of the subtalar joint.
Low nonunion rates associated with operatively treated clavicle fractures
Despite similar results seen after nonoperative and operative treatment of displaced distal clavicle fractures, operative treatment significantly lowered the rate of malunion and nonunion, according to a presentation in the Game Changers session at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting.
