Negative pressure wound therapy may increase deep infection rate
DENVER — Patients managed with negative pressure wound therapy for severe open fracture wounds experienced lower physical quality of life scores and higher odds of developing deep infections that required operative management compared with patients who did not have the therapy, according to results presented at the Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting.

He said IV ibuprofen was an excellent adjunct in the treatment of pain, and it reduced opioid consumption in orthopedic trauma patients.
Fascia iliac blocks may reduce opioid use in patients with hip fractures
DENVER — In patients with hip fractures, adjuvant fascia iliac blocks may decrease postoperative narcotic consumption and increase mobilization, according to a presenter at the Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting.
