Study indicates risk of second major osteoporotic fracture greatest after initial fracture
A study presented at the World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases to determine whether the predictive value of a previous major osteoporotic fracture for future fracture changed with time indicated the greatest risk for a second major fracture was immediately following the index fracture.

17th EFORT Annual Congress in Geneva — Attend the EFORT FOUNDATION Symposium
The EFORT Foundation, officially launched at the 10th EFORT Congress in Vienna in June 2009, is a non-profit organization that aims to promote science and research in the fields of orthopaedics and traumatology in order to make progress in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. Its educational mission is based on the improvement of the level of orthopaedic and traumatological care throughout Europe by supporting knowledge exchange and training. The financial support the Foundation gives surgeons and researchers includes grants for research projects, fellowships for long and short research visits, as well as for Congress attendance.
Dried plums found effective for prevention of BMD loss in osteopenic postmenopausal women
Investigators of this study found dried plums prevented total body bone mineral density loss in older osteopenic postmenopausal women and that both 50 g and 100 g of dried plum doses were effective in preventing bone loss.
