BMI did not affect clinical outcomes after arthroscopic partial meniscectomy
Despite the presence of worse pain, physical function and quality of life scores and decreased flexion among obese patients prior to arthroscopic partial meniscectomy, results showed no statistically significant differences in clinical outcomes between normal-weight and obese patients at 1-year follow-up.
Repeated PRP injections after arthroscopic supraspinatus repair provided no additional benefit
At midterm review after supraspinatus repair, results showed significant postoperative clinical improvements and high levels of patient satisfaction regardless of whether ultrasound-guided injections of platelet-rich plasma were used.

High BMI linked to greater risk of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve palsy after shoulder arthroscopy
Results published in Arthroscopy showed patients with a higher median weight and BMI who underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery had an increased risk of developing lateral femoral cutaneous nerve palsy.
Similar outcomes seen after TKA with vs without prior arthroscopic surgery
Results from this study demonstrated patients who had previous non-ACL arthroscopic procedures and those without prior surgery had similar clinical outcomes, survivorship and complications at long-term follow-up after total knee arthroplasty.
Infection risk after hip arthroscopy affected by timing of intra-articular hip injection
Patients who received a preoperative intra-articular hip injection within 3 months of hip arthroscopy experienced an increased risk of infection, according to results.
Arthroscopic repair of posterior bony Bankart lesion addresses glenoid, capsulolabral pathology
Posterior instability is less common than anterior shoulder instability, encompassing approximately 10% of all shoulder instability in young active patients. The etiology of posterior instability is most commonly traumatic dislocation or subluxation that damages the posterior labrum, posterior inferior glenohumeral ligament, and/or the bony glenoid rim (posterior bony Bankart lesion). Traumatic posterior shoulder instability or dislocation is typically seen when a posteriorly directed force is applied to a flexed adducted and internally rotated limb, which forces the humeral head posteriorly. Atraumatic chronic posterior instability is found notably in patients who frequently perform activities with repetitive posterior-directed forces, such as weight lifters or football linemen.
Symptoms in patients with FAI correlated more with mental health scores vs severity of tear, deformity
Investigators found symptom severity correlated more with mental health status than with the size of labral tear or femoroacetabular deformity among patients with femoroacetabular impingement.

Better, but not clinically important, results with surgery vs no treatment for subacromial shoulder pain
Results from this study indicated arthroscopic subacromial decompression and arthroscopy only both yielded better outcomes for shoulder pain and function among patients who had subacromial pain and intact rotator cuff tendons vs. no treatment. However, the differences between the three groups were not clinically important.
Several factors associated with hospital admission after arthroscopic Bankart repair
Female gender, increasing age and longer operation time were independent risk factors for hospital admission following arthroscopic Bankart repair, according to results published in Orthopedics.
