VIDEO: Completed surgical treatment of disabled throwing shoulder

Demonstrated in this video is completion of the surgical treatment of a disabled throwing shoulder.

According to John D. Kelly IV, MD, surgical success of the disabled throwing shoulder is realized when the rip stop region of labral attachment and bumper configuration are restored.

Once the surgery is completed, the shoulder is immobilized for 5 weeks in an abduction sling, with focus on early elbow, wrist and scapular exercises. Physical therapy begins at 6 weeks and light tossing is generally allowed at 3.5 months, with return to full throwing generally at the 6-month mark.
