KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Frank A. Liporace, MD, offered several tips and techniques for treating patients with tricky distal femur fractures.
Liporace spoke about length, alignment and rotation of fixation, plating vs. nailing, as well as accompanying articular injuries.
“Some of the important things to look out for are consistent whether you are doing a native, distal femoral fracture or many of these things transcend to a periprosthetic distal femoral fracture,” Liporace said. “They can be tricky, but if we follow a stepwise progression, we usually can yield a very good result.”
