KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Christopher S. Ahmad, MD, spoke about the use of remplissage in every patient with traumatic shoulder instability.

“Our success rates can be improved in shoulder instability surgery,” Ahmad said. “The Hill-Sachs lesion, which is bone deformity, is not adequately addressed without remplissage. ‘Remplissage’ is a term in French meaning ‘filling.’ Adding it to an arthroscopic stabilization eliminates the Hill-Sachs contribution to risk of recurrence, increases our success rates and, in addition, it’s low risk.”
