“When you are in a teaching institution, you want to make sure you have access to the latest technology both for your patients but also so that your trainees can be exposed to the latest orthopedic innovations,” Garrigues, chief medical officer for the Academic Orthopaedic Consortium, told Healio. “We have a lot of innovations, from AI to robotics to new pharmaceuticals to virtual reality, etc., but all those come with a cost – often a higher price tag than the existing.”
