DENVER — In this video from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting, Seth L. Sherman, MD, discusses takeaways from his presentation on innovations in knee cartilage repair.

“In general, when we are talking about large, focal or multiple defects, we have to stick to the evidence, and the best evidence is for [matrix-induced autologous chondrocyte implantation] MACI or osteochondral allograft,” Sherman, associate professor of orthopedic surgery at Stanford Medicine, told Healio.

Sherman also discusses ongoing FDA trials and innovative research on cartilage restoration and subchondral bone.

“This is a fast-moving, evolving space, but stick to the evidence and report your own outcomes so we can all learn together,” he said.
