The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons announced a call for proposals for its Inspiring Diversity, Equity and Access Grant Program.
An initiative that funds educational, community and outreach programs that inspire diversity across orthopedics, the Inspiring Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Grant Program will award $300,000 across four tracks in 2025, each with a different diversity, equity and inclusion focus and target recipient, according to a press release. The release noted additional funding may be added from AAOS supporters to extend the reach of the initiative.

“The programs selected for an AAOS IDEA grant will help to cultivate meaningful and measurable opportunities across orthopedics, acting as a springboard for change within our profession,” Holly Tyler-Paris Pilson, MD, FAAOS, FAOA, chair of the AAOS Diversity Advisory Board, said in the release. “This is not about checking a box; this call for proposals opens a door for funding directly to the local and regional orthopedic programs and organizations who are training the current and next generation."
The application deadline is June 17, according to the release.
