For the 14th straight year, Hospital for Special Surgery has been named the top hospital in the United States for orthopedic care, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” survey.
With a specialty score of 100 out of 100, Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City topped the annual Best Hospitals for Orthopedics rankings, which included 1,681 hospitals and ranked the top 50 that see challenging orthopedic patients for spinal surgery, fusion, limb, joint and other musculoskeletal and connective tissue care.
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) was followed by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Mayo Clinic, NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital and New York – Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia and Cornell, to round out the top five in orthopedics rankings.
“A recent survey of U.S. News users revealed more than four in five (84%) consider a hospital’s quality metrics to be important factors when deciding where to seek treatment for a serious medical issue,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in the release. “Consumers want useful resources to help them assess which hospital can best meet their specific care needs. The 2023 [to] 2024 Best Hospitals rankings offer patients and the physicians with whom they consult a data-driven source for comparing performance in outcomes, patient satisfaction and other metrics that matter to them,” Harder added.
“This U.S. News analysis validates that we are providing the highest quality care in fields that are advancing steadily,” Louis A. Shapiro, CEO of HSS, said in a hospital press release. “We remain at the top by setting a higher standard for ourselves in every aspect of what we do, from patient care to quality to culture and beyond. Every single member of the HSS team plays a vital role,” he said.
