LAS VEGAS — In this video from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, John G. Kennedy, MD, and Arianna Gianakos, DO, spoke about in-office needle arthroscopy for patients with anterior ankle impingement.

“[The patient is] actually just coming into the office in their clothes. They roll up their pant leg if they need it, and they are able to walk out of there, typically, because it is a minimally invasive procedure,” Gianakos said. “So, they don’t feel like they’re hurt. They don’t feel like they’re injured, and they want to get back sooner than later. I think that mindset is important,” she said.

“It truly is almost like going to the dentist. You come in with a pathology. We are able to diagnose it with clarity. We are able to do something about it there and then, and the patients walks out,” Kennedy said. “That’s a revolution. We truly believe it’s going to change the way things are in orthopedics moving forward,” Kennedy added.
