KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Jack M. Bert, MD, spoke about use of the quadriceps tendon for ACL reconstruction and repair instead of bone-patellar tendon-bone graft.

“The fact that has been the gold standard is now being questioned due to the fact that quad tendons are utilized as the primary repair source and have the same results if you do comparative series as bone-patellar-bone,” he said.

He said most people now are moving to the quadriceps tendon for their primary repair for elite athletes and young athletes.

“We do recommend doing this in the future to avoid complications associated with bone-patellar bone-tendon grafting,” Bert said.
