Hospital for Special Surgery Florida appoints new CEO

Hospital for Special Surgery Florida has appointed Tara M. McCoy as CEO, according to a company press release.
“It is an honor to take on this new role, and I look forward to expanding the reach and impact of Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) across the state of Florida,” McCoy said in the release. “I am committed to utilizing my health care knowledge and Florida community experiences to continue building on the great work that has already begun,” she added.
McCoy, who has more than 20 years of experience in health care leadership roles with institutions, such as Cleveland Clinic and Tenet Healthcare, will be tasked with expanding the company’s musculoskeletal care throughout the Florida market, according to the release.
“Tara’s appointment demonstrates the commitment to excellence and earned leadership that define the HSS approach to transforming health care,” Louis A. Shapiro, president and CEO of HSS, said in the release. “Exceptional talent and a strong sense of purpose is enabling us to build a unique health care delivery system focused solely on musculoskeletal health unlike anywhere else,” Shapiro added.
According to the release, McCoy will partner with Douglas E. Padgett, MD, associate surgeon-in-chief and medical director for HSS Florida.
