KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Cory A. Collinge, MD, spoke about the treatment of distal one-quarter tibial fractures that are amendable to nailing or plating.

“Over the last 20 years, there has been an evolution in how these fractures have been treated. We have gone from nailing to plating, back to nailing again. The implant availability has fed into that,” Collinge said.

He said orthopedic surgeons are now at a time when both nails and plates are available that allow fixation of far distal tibial fractures.
