KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Robert T. Burks, MD, spoke about how to address ACL and medial collateral ligament injuries based on patient factors and tear type.

“On a case-by-case basis, many of those [MCL injuries] are going to be better off with repair than with just the benign neglect or perhaps just brace where [the patient] may have residual laxity,” he said. “In that very young, high-stress patient is where we are seeing a few more failures [with ACL repair] compared to reconstruction, ... so the cautionary note is to pick your patient and pick where that ACL is torn.” Burks added.
