VIDEO: Diversity and inclusion initiatives strengthen the medical technology industry
CHICAGO — In this video from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, Martha Shadan, chair of the diversity and inclusion committee at AdvaMed, discussed the importance of diversity in the medical technology industry.
“Our mission is to make the [medical technology] industry the industry of choice for diverse candidates,” she said. “What we have discovered is that there seems to be parity at the entry-level positions, but as the job scope increases and [profit and loss] responsibility becomes part of the job scope, the number of women in those roles are less than men. In fact, it is like an 80% to 20% split,” Shadan added.
