WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Toni M. McLaurin, MD, spoke about fractures of the posterior malleolus and syndesmosis.

“We now are paying closer attention to the reduction of the syndesmosis – understanding how important that is, as well as different ways to fix it that are not just one or two screws holding it rigidly in place. In addition, the posterior malleolus and its association with the syndesmosis has become more of an issue. It is something we think more about, not just as an articular injury but more in terms of its relationship to the syndesmosis through the posterior ligaments of the syndesmosis that are attached to it,” she said.
