VIDEO: Alternative sources of revenue may exist for orthopedic surgeons
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Jack M. Bert, MD, discussed the utilization of telehealth, as well as alternative revenue sources for orthopedic surgeons.
“We talked about independent medical exams; we talked about peer review; we talked about the fact that – for example – if you do a plaintiff’s exam for a patient that needs some help with settling a lawsuit, that can be lucrative; and then we talked about defense work,” he said. “So, there are other sources of revenue for an orthopedic surgeon that you should be looking at outside of your current employment scenario.”
“Remember one thing: Your contract has to make certain that it states that they are not going to capture the revenue that you get from these alternative sources,” Bert concluded.
