VIDEO: Patient engagement tools offer an extension of practice
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Christopher L. Peters, MD, spoke about patient engagement technologies in joint replacement surgery.
“These have been entered into practice over the past 5 to 10 years, stimulated by a number of what I guess I would call ‘secular trends’ – one being a push toward outpatient joint replacement; one being bundled payment,” Peters said.
He said the patient engagement platforms have encouraged orthopedic surgeons to become more conscious of providing value to patients.
“The emergence of digital patient-engagement platforms has helped us in many areas,” he said.
