Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia was named the top hospital for pediatric orthopedics, according to a U.S. News & World Report press release.
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) topped the 15th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings, which included 50 children’s orthopedic hospitals. Scores were based on each hospital’s success with treating complex fractures, scoliosis, spina bifida and sports injuries in pediatric patients, according to the release.
Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Medical Center Dallas-Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center rounded out the top five of the orthopedics rankings.
CHOP also landed at the No. 2 spot on the U.S. News & World Report’s 2021-2022 Honor Roll, a distinction given to pediatric centers with exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties, according to the release.
As the top hospital across four of 10 specialties, Boston Children’s Hospital claimed the No. 1 spot on the Honor Roll for the eighth straight year.
“When choosing a hospital for a sick child, many parents want specialized expertise, convenience and caring medical professionals,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in the release. “The Best Children's Hospitals rankings have always highlighted hospitals that excel in specialized care. Now, this year's new state and regional rankings can help families identify conveniently located hospitals capable of meeting their child’s needs. As the pandemic continues to affect travel, finding high-quality care close to home has never been more important.”
