Advanced Osteotomy Tools, a Swiss medical technology start-up, has announced CE certification of the cold ablation robot-guided laser osteotome, according to a press release.

The cold ablation robot-guided laser osteotome (CARLO) system from Advanced Osteotomy Tools (AOT) is the first human-approved, contact-free and robotic-assisted laser bone-cutting device to receive CE certification and is an “important step toward a continuous digitization process in surgical interventions,” according to the release.

“The CE certification after years of intensive development is an important milestone. We have demonstrated the enormous potential of contact-free, robot-assisted surgery based on our laser technology for cutting bones,” Cyrill Bätscher, CEO of AOT, said in the release. “We have thus come a huge step closer to our vision of elevating classic surgical tools to the next level with our latest technology for the benefit of patients,” he added.
