Smith & Nephew has completed the acquisition of the extremity orthopedic business unit of Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation for $240 million, according to a press release.

Smith & Nephew will add the focused sales channel of Integra LifeSciences, as well as the shoulder replacement, upper and lower extremities portfolio, which features a next-generation shoulder replacement system expected to be commercially available in 2022.

“We are excited to secure this established global business in the rapidly growing extremities segment,” Skip Kiil, president of global orthopedics at Smith & Nephew, said in the release. “Its portfolio, specialized sales channel and product pipeline all strengthen our business and we look forward to welcoming our new colleagues to Smith & Nephew,” he added.
