AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedic Institute have announced a partnership to establish an orthopedic care network in the central Florida area, according to an AdventHealth Facebook Live stream.

The partnership will combine Rothman’s academic and value-based approach to orthopedic care with AdventHealth’s metro Orlando network to create a roster of fellowship trained, subspecialized physicians in the region.

“We are proud to be joining together with Rothman Orthopaedic Institute to build an orthopedic program in central Florida that will be a leader in training and education and a leader in orthopedic care to our community,” Daryl Tol, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s central Florida division, said during the stream.

“We are fortunate to live in central Florida. [We have] year-round sports and activities. Many people choose to retire to central Florida and live thriving lives in this beautiful environment, but that makes orthopedic care – musculoskeletal care – important,” Tol said. “When you look at physician expertise, there are many physicians that are great at what they do individually. The best programs are built when physicians gather together, have an aspiration to do something big and build a team to get that done, and that team pushes the envelope of medicine. That team is where progress comes from and frankly, that is the kind of team that this partner has built, and we are excited about it,” he added.

“After observing the evolution of the health care sector, we decided that now was the right time to expand outside of our core market and partner with AdventHealth,” Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, president of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, said in the press release. “AdventHealth is a health care leader and innovator, and we are excited to share the same vision of bringing high-quality orthopedic care to the communities we serve. We look forward to working alongside AdventHealth and continuing to bolster our world-class service offerings and resources,” he said.

The partners also announced a plan for the construction of the headquarters for Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in central Florida.

“We are planning a substantial building on the campus of our downtown AdventHealth Orlando Hospital. We call it health village. It will be right on I-4. It will be impossible to miss – 12 stories, 300,000 square feet,” Tol said.

“There is nothing like having a great partner who invests heavily in the infrastructure in which we so badly need. So, that will be a central campus and, in the future, AdventHealth and Rothman plan to develop an educational residency,” Vaccaro said during the stream. “I think centralizing like this downtown is a phenomenal way of bring people, workers and patients together. So, I could not be more excited,” he added.
